Post Storm Ida & Infrastructure Discussion with Congressman Donald Payne Jr.

Roselle and Roselle Park officials met with Congressman Donald Payne Jr. on September 9, 2021 via Zoom to discuss Post-Storm Ida support, FEMA, and infrastructure needs for both Boroughs.

“We appreciate Congressman Payne, Senator Cryan and all that joined this call to discuss the impact of Tropical Storm Ida on both Boroughs,” said Roselle Mayor Donald Shaw. “Runoff from Roselle Park affects Roselle so recovery from this storm is a group effort and it’s important that we work and communicate openly.”

“I want everyone to know that I have not forgotten about the municipalities in the 10th District. We are working towards trying to help,” said Congressman Payne. “Please contact my office right away with anything that you may need and we will advocate on your behalf.”

Senator Joseph Cryan also joined the call to discuss his and Senator Nick Scutari’s efforts on the ground regionally and, most importantly, to remind officials of the human aspect of this disaster.

“One of our goals is to alleviate the storm water hot spots here in Roselle Park because what impacts us impacts Roselle downstream,” said Roselle Park Mayor Joseph Signorello. “If there’s anything we can do to help rectify issues, we certainly need to start looking at this as a complete regional package.”

Attendees on the call included:
Roselle Mayor Donald Shaw
Roselle Park Mayor Joseph Signorello
Council President Denise Wilkerson
Fourth Ward Councilwoman Cindy Thomas
Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Cesar Perez
Fire Department Chief Eric Pearson
Roselle’s Engineer Jacqueline Dirmann
