A $2 million grant from the state will bring infrastructure updates, roadway improvements and increased pedestrian safety measures to the Borough, announced officials.

“The infrastructure needs are great in this Borough and with a great partnership between local and federal government, we can deliver on projects for safer roadways,” said Mayor Donald Shaw. “I would like to thank Congressman Payne, our grant writer David Biuonno, and Council President Brandon Bernier, Councilwoman Denise Wilkerson and Councilwoman Cindy Thomas, members of our redevelopment committee, for their efforts in securing these funds for Roselle.”

Mayor Shaw visited Rep. Donald Payne Jr. (D-10th Dist.) office in Newark to accept the ceremonial check and discussed with Rep. Payne how the administration is grateful for the opportunity to further community projects with a focus on traffic safety.

This grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is part of Community Project Funding, an initiative aimed to provide investment in a wide variety of projects such as housing, workforce training, public facilities, parks and other critical infrastructure and services.

Other recipients include the Township of West Orange, Newark Emergency Services for Families, Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences School of Nursing, and United Way of Hudson County.
